be back in MI around noon.

So here's how the Google meme works: You copy/past the following with your name inserted into the Google search engine (make sure you use quotes!) and you then have to copy/past the first sentence of the first description; no matter what it says; NO CHEATING!!!
1. Google ''[your name] needs'':
Claire Needs a Visit to the Bunny Planet (yay!! got this before on a different memo. some sort of kids book? may have to check it out!)
2. Google ''[your name] looks”:
This is what the name "Claire" looks like in Japanese: "Claire" in Japanese characters. It is pronounced "KUREAA". (ha! already knew that. thanks 2 semesters of japanese!)
3. Google ''[your name] Likes":
Claire likes to chew on her clothes, and although bodysuits help prevent her. (to be fair, the first line was actually someone else talking about this meme on their blog, so i disqualified that.)
4. Google ''[your name] says'':
Claire says she can resist anything but tempeh. (isn't that kind of like tofu? ick)
5. Google "[your name] wants"
Claire wants to be a WAG. (a what???)
6. Google ''[your name] does'':
Claire does slang - Parental Guidance Advised. (mwahahahaha! i'm bad for your children!)
7. Google ''[your name] hates'':
Claire Hates You! (heehee. apparently "the most cynical webcomic")
8. Google ''[your name] can'':
[If] Claire can Twitter so can the... (and it cuts off. a newspaper headline. second place is "Claire Can't Lose: Making Out #12" which i'm sure is a highly educational YA series.)
9. Google ''[your name] goes'':
Claire goes swimming on Flickr-Photo Sharing! (well, i do need to get a flickr. i will not be swimming on, or in, it, however.)
10. Google "[your name] is":
Claire is now 24 weeks pregnant and is due to have a caesarean at the Royal. (something about being pregnant in two wombs, and dealing with MS???? weird! other choices include "so passe", "running in high heels", and "a newt".)
11. Google ''[your name] loves'':
cLaiRe loves BAKING!! (claire does love baking. claire hates typing LikE tHis hOweVeR.)

barring any giant "how to survive on a desert island" type books - any why are they always desert islands? why not rainforest, or pacific northwestern-y? - here is my list:
1. biting the sun, by tanith lee
2. forests of the heart, by charles de lint
3. dangerous angels (the weetzie bat books), by francesca lia block
4. the masterharper of pern, by anne mccaffrey
5. the serpent's shadow, by mercedes lackey
would a blank notebook count? i could always make charcoal sticks to write with.
taken from jess!
Go through the list and check off the titles you have watched. For our purposes, "watching" a title means that for TV and OVA series, you have to have seen at least one episode. For one-shots, you have to have seen the whole thing. At the end of each genre/category, add up your sub-total. At the very end, add up the sub-totals to come up with your grand total. If your grand total is 80 or over, congratulations -- you are an obsessive anime watcher!
An Editor's Note: not all the titles listed here are great, and some are even steaming piles of crap. Titles on the list are here because they are either 1) genuinely good, 2) insanely popular, 3) good examples of the genre, or 4) just plain notorious. Good anime obsessives should be able to watch series with any of those qualities.

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first/first few line[s] from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING.

booked my ticket a while ago, but i keep forgetting to post details here!!
i'll be in michigan from late on the 19th to very early on the 29th. not sure what days i'll be in reading vs. ypsi (besides around xmas, of course). emily's going to pick me up from the airport and i'll be driving back w/ laura s. and her bf to spend new years in nyc. we're leaving super early on the 29th, so i'll prolly stay over at her place the night before, at the very least.
SO!! what i want to know is when you all are going to be around and want to spend some time hanging out! i need bubble tea and pete's, of course, and maybe corner and the ugly mug as well.
honestly, i'm super-excited for snow!!!!! it has yet to snow here, just a bunch of rain and temps in the mid-40s-50s.

If you saw me in the back of a police car, what would you think I was there for?
Answer me, then post this in your own journal (or, you know, don't) to see how many different crimes you get accused of committing.
gleefully taken from laura r.! c'mon ... what crazy things could i possibly do?! hehehe

love love loving this show. all caught up on episodes and have to wait till next week to see the next. yay for the internet!! (it airs on HBO). now i want to go back and read the books again. i remember enough to know what they change, but it's still in book#1 and i'm not as familiar with them past 3 or 4. have to borrow from the library or have my mom ship them out to me!
i also really like the opening song. guess i'm more of a country girl than i like to admit! it reminds me of growing up in a small rural community, and how things are a little rough around the edges, but there's a lot of love for your neighbors - and everyone knows everyone's business!
so - go download some episodes!!

the second quote, from "shopgirl" - that's me!!
Wednesday Had One-Liners for the Tax Exemptions
Ghetto mother to obnoxiously loud child: Stop it! Stop it! I said stop it! Oooh, girl I am gonna sell yo ass for a Lexus and a mansion if you don't stop!
--L Train
Mother to small child lagging behind: Do you want to go home with another family?
--South St Seaport
Overheard by: shopgirl
Grandmother to small grandson: You went potty, Nietzsche? That's very good. Nana is coming over later, Nietzsche.
--Carl Schurz Park
Mother, to kid peeing on street: Michael, we don't pee on other people's doors!
--Central Park West
Overheard by: Nikki
Mother, to kid looking at toys: It's not a toilet, it's to make cupcakes.
--Toys "R" US, Times Square
Overheard by: Howie
Father, to five-year-old son: I had no idea you liked AC/DC!
--Penn Station
Mother, to son in stroller watching two shady characters: Oh, a drug deal! Sam*, your first drug deal encounter.

yay, i've been 23 for about 3 hours!!! ^_^ apart from getting rained on from the train to my door, it's been good so far. opened package from my mom (earrings, dishcloths, amigurumi how-to books), a card from my uncle (money!) and matty's gift (cooking mama for the wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) of course we had to try the game out ... hehehehe... it's so amazingly fun! and frustrating! and actually requires muscle movement! lol, i swore when i couldn't get the egg to crack. i think we need to put a webcam on top of the tv to watch people's faces as they cook. i know i was making some funny ones!
work this afternoon, then gathering people for dinner (what am i going to wear?!), then probably out somewhere? hopefully it doesn't rain too much! and then coney island on sunday!! last day of the season, awwww.
but now, bed. if i'm not too worked up from virtual cooking!

flight back to NY was uneventful, though there was a moment of panic when i misremembered what time my plane took off. not to worry - luggage and i made it okay and got back to quincy around 12:30. luckily i didn't have to work till late the next day so i could unpack and relax some. friday night we had a welcome-home/super-belated birthday party at our place, which was quite a hit!!! pictures are on facebook, soon to be on myspace and maybe eventually here. posting pics on LJ is such a pain!! anyway, matt and i both called off work the next day due to "food poisoning" and instead recovered and cleaned the apartment. if you check out the pictures, you can see that it needed it!
yesterday and today i've been at ako all day, minding the store and playing shopgirl. aka being BORED OUT OF MY EFFING MIND!!! and then having to recover quickly when anyone steps into the store. i can't believe i'm beginning to look forward to the days i work at f21, if only for the fast pace, interaction and knowledge that i'm doing a good job and being useful. not to mention the reliable paycheck ... hoped i would have to come back to at ako, but alas, it was not the case. so i'm a full month behind now - at least i got one at f21 and could pay rent for aug!!!
speaking of money-related calamities, i've been trying to get my former roomie jamie to pay me for my old computer ever since i moved out in june. a couple weeks ago she was going to start mailing me payments, but guess what never showed in my mailbox?! so i emailed her yesterday and amazingly got a reply today. apparently the old landlord died, leaving his daughter and son-in-law in charge. this same day jamie was trying to change the electric bill to her name and they wanted to see a lease and documentation, which she couldn't produce because we never had a lease and paid the landlord in cash. risky, i know. so she's been without electricity for about a month, most everyone has moved out of the house and she's fighting with her former bestie who lives upstairs. but i guess she's finally moving out this week and should be able to get half the money to me by next week. we'll see .... i'm just glad i moved out when i did and got to escape most of this drama!!!
